  1. The Lion King on Blu Ray

    Sat, Oct 8, 2011 at 7:27 PM 2 Comments

Since I can't see David Allan Coe tonight and don't feel like dealing with jackasses at Brujeria, I went to Best Buy and picked up some new Blu Rays including The Lion King. Holy shit, the thing looks great! Way to go Disney on the remastering! This has always been one of my favorite movies, and I'm glad to finally have the ultimate version of it in my hands! Hakuna Matata!

  2. David Allan Coe

So I was all juiced up to see David Allan Coe at Antone's tonight. I took off work early, made arrangements to get the bus and all that shit, and the fucker cancels! This is the SECOND time in two years he's cancelled a date in Austin. I'm starting to think he's got some enemies here in Austin or warrants or something. Other than that, he's old as hell, so it may just be "old man disease"....

  3. Watching Empire Strikes Back

I'm sitting here on my second movie of another attempt at watching the three first Star Wars movies, and I'm quickly growing attached to Empire Strikes Back! Return Of The Jedi has always been my favorite, probably because I was JUST old enough to see the Ewok films that followed it in the theaters when they first came out. I had such a little boy crush on Drew Barrymore it's not even funny....

  4. Way To Go Netflix!

Holy shit, The Wonder Years is on Netflix Instant Viewing! I though this was a show I'd NEVER see again except in reruns and in those dopey VHS of like six episodes that came out in the mid 90s! It seems the musicians whose music appeared in the show wanted to get a cut of the money if DVDs were made, so the show's been in home video hell for the last 17 years. Netflix, I bow at your holy...

  5. I didn't know the genre existed, but apparently it does. What the hell? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhpXKK39jgo&feature=related This band is called Soldier, kind of reminds me of Judas Priest, but much faster guitars... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOEo8TS230Q&feature=related Deliverance, sounds like Megadeth with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Woah, new thing to surf...

  6. You all can take it however you want, but I am one of those horrible Christians people love to hate on in this town. That being said, I ain't yer momma's kind of Christian, either. I have a spiritual life for myself, and I don't push this shit on everybody. One of my guilty pleasures is the great/horrible/cheesy Christian hair metal that came out of the 80s. Pick any popular hair band:...

  7. Finally feeling good!

Finally feeling better after almost two weeks of this pneumonia shit! I never thought it was gonna go away and was skeptical of the Z pak, but I'll be damned if it hasn't worked! Still not totally well, but really really really close! Time to listen to some Kylesa!

  8. Dude

    J. Edgar Hoover was a world class douchebag! I'm glad he's dead, but am saddened that his followers are still in power to this day. This documentary is making me realize on a deeper level how fucked in the head he was. He started off with great ideas, and at one time was probably a good guy, but man oh man did power go to his head! I think it is hilarious that his secret life with Clyde...

  9. Add me to the watch list J. Edgar!

It was time to go turn in my rentals from last week and snatch up some new stuff. In the spirit of overloading on my current obsessions, I went with movies about or dealing with the Communist Red Scare of the 1920s-1960s. With my recent acquisition of recordings of John Henry Faulk(who won the ONLY succesful libel suit against the U.S. govt), I thought it appropriate to do this. I'll let...

  10. Reviving my old band!

    Tue, Oct 4, 2011 at 9:17 PM 1 Comments

Bringing back my Judas Priest tribute PAINKILLER, as soon as I can build the band! I just decided today that I miss performing that music, and it's mostly what I sing at karaoke anyway! I had a nice little lineup in Dallas, and played a few shows, but the scene got really competitive around that time with clubs closing left and right, so I moved my ass to Austin. Since then, I've just done...
