As a royal decree, I announce that you should go and purchase the new Cyndi Lauper memoir at the earliest convenience! Even though I am often thought of as "the crazy dude who moshes like a lunatic and wears the OFF! hat", I do have another side which is absolutely bonkers for Cyndi Lauper. I've seen her live more times than any other band except maybe Circle Jerks/OFF!, and have even made a long friendship with her drummer Sammy Merendino(a total badass who also recorded drums for Michael Jackson's DANGEROUS!). Anyway, I'm three chapters in and can't hardly put it down. Her life story is much darker than you would imagine, and it took her 13 YEARS to make it in the music business, and she didn't compromise for one fucking second! THAT'S A PUNK. Cyndi Lauper is punk rock.
