This past Friday was the anniversary of Apollo 11's landing on the moon in 1969. It took three days for Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins to get to the Moon. After spending about 21 1/2 hours on the Moon, the crew returned safely to Earth after spending 8 days in space.
I have seen the Apollo 11 command module at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and it amazes to this day that 3 men trusted their lives on a space ship the size of a suburban with 1/800th the processing power of an iPhone to get them to the Moon and back. We are on the fucking Moon, indeed.
