Gambino is a Mastermind.

In my second post in the series where I will be introducing people to artists from this year's lineup, I give you Childish Gambino. For those, that do not know, Gambino, a.k.a Donald Glover--actor, rapper, comedian--stars on the hit NBC Comedy Community. He has recently ventured into the hip-hop genre of music. He has gained a lot of fans in the past year. I have been listening to him since last fall.

He mixes great production with witty, one-liners and puns. Check out some of his music below:

Freaks and Geeks-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otPxoVQiIGo

Break- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Veiot_DcdP8 (All of the Lights Cover)

Rolling in the Deep ftr Childish Gambino- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkTMj0McIvc

Hero- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvFPVIyziuE (the first song I ever heard from him)

Bonfire- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBq8HFYDLQ8 (Single off Debut Album Camp)

For more content, visit his website www.iamdonald.com. His studio album debut is set to release November 15th. I am hoping he previews songs during FFFfest 2011. For those that typically do not listen to this genre, he is definitely someone to introduce you to it. I am really excited to see him perform his music and stand-up.

Keep posted for more on this year's artists. In the first post, I covered Odd Future...

Childish Gambino is a good rapper, I totally agree. But like johnnyn said, some of his tracks/punchlines do get old.

Also, I think Gambino's production is good too, sometimes I zone out on lyrics and just listen to the background.

Public Enemy was going to be my next post...haha...timeless.

I thought Watch the Throne had some alright lyrics, but just production value---sample 2-3 songs was per song was ridiculous. I enjoyed the album.

I like Gambino, as repetitive as some of his stuff is, that's just the way rap is these days.

Every track is the same by this guy. punchlines and how many races of bitches hes got. That gimmick gets old quick.

Just about as much masturbating on his tracks as the Watch the Throne album, except Watch the Throne had like a billion dollars worth of sample clearances.

    and his flow is unoriginal.

Mastermind? Are you not excited to see the pinnacle of hip hop? Public Enemy? The best rapper of all time? Rakim?

    Yea...they're old as fuck....i know.
