...I have a good job and can afford to go to this year's concert! Also, I was one of the 500 winners for the Fun1 discount, but because of said job, I couldn't get online to get tickets ontime. FFF giveth, and FFF taketh away. At least I have a lot of points to hopefully "buy" something cool.

So I never made it to last year's FFF. I have already resolved to make it this year, no matter what. Already wondering which bands will return or debut. I miss Austin in general.

Just lost my job. I have another one, but it's just enough to pay the bills. Even I get a volunteer gig that lets me attend the concert free, I'm not sure I can afford the trip. Depends on whether I find something else in the next couple of weeks.

Has anyone stayed at Hostelling Int'l? I've read good reviews online, and it seems like I'd be able to get to the Festival fairly easily. Help! Backup plan: I just signed up for Couchsurfing, possibly for this but definitely for other events. I can probably find a hotel, but it doesn't really make sense for one person, especially with no money. I wish I knew about/had equipment for camping.

So I went back to listen to more bands that I hadn't heard before (which is the majority of them), and I have myself yet another conflict. Of course, it's in the first block of the damn festival! I thought I was all set with Betaplayer, who I wrote about a few days ago, to kick off Day 1. I'm jamming out to The Laughing right now, and I'd like to see them as well. Betaplayer starts at 12:20...

I'm speaking of One-Eyed Doll:

Just got back from a fun and tiring weekend at South Padre Island for the Seafood & Music Festival. I went in early on Thursday since I would be volunteering early Friday morning. I went to the festival pre-party at Padre Rock, which featured One Eyed Doll , an amazing hard rock duo from Austin. Singer/guitarist Kimberly Freeman puts on a hell of a show, to the point where I wonder why FFF...

I was checking out bands I hadn't heard before from the artist list. Betaplayer is playing the first set on Saturday, and they are a revelation. These hip-hop experimentalists have combined live instrumentation (The Roots if they played more prog and post-punk) with old school flow and lyricism (they'd fit in fine with the bands on Def Jux). Check it: BetaPlayer : "Twenty12...

As a former teacher, I can tell you that when there's rampant, blatant abuse of positive incentive systems, those systems end up going away very quickly. So don't be lame, because you'll ruin it for everyone else!

Yet another schedule dilemma. I'd basically like to see all of the bands playing during the 7:30-7:45 blocks on Day 1. Is it humanly possible to make it to four stages during the same block!?!?
