Waterloo park is so torn up...
I was downtown 2 weeks ago for Big Freedia and Katey Red's Chaos in Tejas show, and I parked on the south end of Waterloo Park (former site of some cool FFFFs!). They have the entire park (the ENTIRE PARK) surrounded by 8' privacy fence (so you can't just see in there), topped with razor wire. Having left work and headed straight for downtown, I got there while some construction vehicles were still leaving, so the gate they created (near where the Black Stage used to be) was open and I snapped 2 quick pix.

I must admit... this park did need a facelift, but I hate that it came at the cost of relocating FFF. I feel like moving it to "the shores" just gave them the green light to start taking things in a different direction.
As for the cool new music fest idea.... I'm already on it! Still hammering out the details, but keep your eyes open for some announcements coming soon! ;-)

Thankfully, it'll still be a park. This is part of a larger project to redo the area around Waller Creek, which runs through downtown Austin (I just stumbled across this info about it: http://www.wallercreek.org/overview). Word on the street was that Waterloo Park would be closed for 2-3 years. Maybe when it's done, a small, cool, new music fest could begin there... :/
