Missin' the Loop

Just came back from having coffee at Epoch. I can see my old house from their patio. I moved about 3 months ago (although it feels like longer right now) after living on North Loop for a little over 4 years. My new neighbourhood isn't that far away but it's a world of difference.

So quiet & secluded over here. My neighbours are almost never outside & when they are they look at me like I'm nuts if I wave or say hello. I don't really have a front porch to sit on over here like I used to... I have a carport. But it really doesn't matter anyway because there's nothing to do out there anyway. No people watching, no chatting with neighbours passing by, none of that.

I wanted more space & a yard & to be rid of my shitty landlords once & for all. Well, I got all of the above. Went from a one bedroom duplex to a three bedroom house, but in the process I feel as though I've completely lost my "culture" & replaced it with something dull & boring.

Sometimes I feel as though I'm slowly blending right into it all... becoming dull & boring myself...... SIGH....

Thanks! I'm trying to bring a little of it over here. I have big plans for the yard, once it stops raining long enough & I can find (craigslist) all the required materials. Looking forward to hosting some good yard parties once it cools down more outside. That should help!

Take your culture with you. The change in environment doesn't necessarily change you; don't worry.
