Why the Odd Future hate?

When I first heard Tyler, about 10 months ago, I knew he was gonna be huge. I also accepted, of course, that he'd get lots of hate, as would OF fans. But... I definitely didn't expect the hate to come from FFFFest. I've seen some nasty shit posted on this site about Odd Future. What gives? This festival is all about music that's a little different. Is it because they're performing on the blue stage? Would people rather they perform on the black stage? It's kind of ridiculous. Even if you don't like them, you could at least grow up and accept that other people do, and they may have legitimate reasons for doing so.

It's really counter productive to hate odd future. They obviously encourage it, I mean that is how they got so much notoriety from their shock antics. The more people hate on Tyler and O/F the bigger I see them getting. I don't mind them at all though. I saw them at Pitchfork fest and Tyler was performing in a cast, and still crowd surfed. I think that shows dedication as a performance artist.

I like a lot of hip hop artists but I would trade Tyler/OF for Murs or Mr Lif all day long.

I haven't read the anti-OF posts you're referring to, and I've only had a little exposure to Tyler the Creator (a couple songs, a few of his rediculous tweets) and it seems to me he's just about shock value. Self-absorbed, hate-mongering, gross-out tactics...just not my thing ::shrug::
