I feel old

Thu, Mar 24, 2011 at 2:23 PM By: Steven K.

so my 25 birthday just passed and I'm starting to feel old. not actually old but I find it harder to connect to these kids today fresh out of high school (or when it comes to my siblings' friends, those still in high school). they seem to have such shitty taste in music. they're just so damn safe these days. I remember when I was in high school all the crazy shit we'd get into and have to run from the cops. what happened to the world that 7 years makes me feel so disconnected?

I say fuck it. you younglings enjoy what you've got. cause some trouble, break some bones, create some chaos. but please don't wear Crocs.

dood steven that Devo show was awesome. They sound great live. The age of the crowd was pretty varied. I did see a lot of young kids, some of which didn't seem all that familiar with Devo's music. Is it just some hipster thing to go to shows of bands that are well know just to say you were there? I was surprised the crowd got kind of rowdy, which is cool and everything but you don't expect someone to want to start a circle pit at devo. Overall awesome show!

25 is nothing! live it up! but i do agree with you that the taste of music for a younger crowd has changed dramatically and for the worse!

ended up not going to the DEVO show. while I would've loved to see the Octopus Project and DEVO, I had a birthday party for my half-brother's dad to attend. I still want to see They Might Be Giants (more so than I wanted to see DEVO).

did y'all go to the DEVO show this weekend? pricey tix, fancy venue, aging band. first time in a while i felt young at a show. but then i was too tired for the after-party...and i felt old all over again.

you're also considered old from a marketing standpoint. Over 25 is a whole other demographic. Yea I'm only 28, sometimes it sucks to feel like the old guy at shows but now i just don't care what the kids are up to. I know one day they will feel the same as the rest of us, only i feel it will be more crushing to this younger generation because they seem so sensitive to me lol.

love a good dark beer... I had to stop listening to the radio though. SA rock stations don't play enough variety and the pop stations suck (I blame pop music) and the college stations are too weak to pick up in some spots (and they're the only good ones). kids will be kids, I just wish they weren't so mindless.

Hey, happy belated b-day, bro! Yeah, just give it another 15 years (I'm 37, despite what my FFF bio says), the gulf-of-understanding-just-what-the-hell-the-kids-these-days-are-thinking just gets worse! D: But beer helps soothe the aging soul, and that's a good thing...
