Completely subdued by the epic, glorious win of FFF.
Driving back this morning gave me time to reflect on how unbeliveably butt-fucking awesome this weekend was. Here's a quick rundown of all the victory. Friday I met up with Crystalpistol who is one of the most legit people I've come across. That night we caught Tod Barry, Chad Hardwick, the Apples in Stereo and Weird Al. Well sauced, drunk-stomped around downtown Austin before finally getting to the Mohawk for no cover(I got in free for some awesome reason), free drinks(bar had to sell $300 worth of drinks before charging, WIN), Martin from Brazos, Memory Tapes (WOW), and the Antlers(WOW WOW). Had clutch bbq sandwiches from a mobile shack, some of the best tasting bbq I've ever had, you Austin folk are lucky as balls. Then teleported back to our respective places of rest.
Saturday: What a day! Met up with a lot of people from the boards who were all mad cool. I caught 16 bands that day, lots of highlights but the main one, DELOREAN. Good lawd they killed it. The dances man, the dances. The rest of the festival sets (and probably the rest of my life) I spent emulating Ekhi (the singer)'s effortless bounce, my calves and knees are aching now...After, I had to recover and charge my much-maligned phone, so I missed GWAR(fml). I did catch some Dirty Projectors and MGMT though, who I thoroughly enjoyed (Electric Feel => mind = blown). Then headed over to Beauty Bar for Delorean's DJ set and Lemonade. Basically we got to party with Delorean, they were so mad cool, just happy, genuine dudes glad to be in Austin. Ended the night with more bbq sammiches.
Sunday: Hit up 16 bands again. I need to check out Mother Falcon, they had a whole orchestra on stage, pretty awesome. Caught some Magic Kids and Junius. Saw all of Deakin and Toro y Moi. Jean Grae is just awesome in every way, you should follow her on twitter, she's hilarious. Cults were great again and Pharoahe Monch brought the heat. Caught a little bit of Polvo before Deerhunter, who, next to Delorean I was looking forward to the most, they both had shows Friday in the Dallas area, very glad I caught them both. I really wanted more time from Deerhunter, their post-rock shoegaze sound was suprisingly perfect outdoors. I think Yelle was the highlight for Sunday, I knew what type of band they were, but never heard any music, and did they make a helluva first impression. The singer, Yelle, quickly became one of my favorite female performers next to Janelle Monae. I could probably talk endlessly about her and the energy from the show...I'll spare you for now. Then on to Mastodon, who had sound issues for most of the set, but still pulled off a brutally awesome performance. I moshed for the last song and caught Brann's drumstick (FUCKING AWESOME) I knew I was going to get one somehow, thank you squats, deadlifts, and genetics for the energy legs. Met back up with Crystal for Yelle's dj set at Beauty Bar, and didn't buy overpriced drinks this time. Danced with Yelle while the dudes put on an epic dj set, almost danced myself sober. Ran into bonnieblowtorch and her crew on the way back, along with some crazed dude who got into a few altercations with random people. THEN, GET THIS. I see Brann fucking Dailor of Mastodon walking with some of the crew, I didn't have the stick I caught so he could sign it(fmlx2), but I still geeked the fuck out. THEN, THEN GET THIS. He's joined by Troy Sanders, also of Mastodon, and I geek out further...I've had some epic weekends, this one is up there. Left me with genuine friends and more music to get into, can't wait to do it again with yall.
Stay black.

i'm hella glad you wrote all this shit so i don't have to. you didn't make it sound like we were trashed every night on whiskey after dancing for four or five hours at the afterparties. i'll call it, 'the clean version'. can't wait to see you in town again!!
