ACL is DEEEAAAADDDD
So ACL is off, pretty much everyone I wanted to go with lamed out. I need more musically conscious, generally awesome friends in Dallas. Sucks, since I wanted to see Bear In Heaven and Black Keys, hopefully there will be future chances for redemption. I went last year and that really got me into festivals in general; but I've seen a ton of the bands already and many of them will be in Dallas the week of, so no worries I guess. It really just makes Fx3 sweeter.

Yea flaky people are everywhere for sure, I go solo to so many shows it's ridiculous. Case in point, just got back from the Crystal Castles show solo. Regardless, I had a blast, having a fro and staying sociable helps. I'm definitely down for a Halloween takeover no matter the consequences of Monday.

Let's hang out! I have tickets to see Helmet @ Trees on Halloween. We should do an after-show takeover somewhere! The city has not made it easy for a lot of clubs but they are making a come back. Trees, Palladium, the Loft, HOB, the Granada, Double Wide, Lee Harvey's and a few other smaller clubs are bringing the entertainment and bands are performing to packed houses. So much is coming through, that if I attended everything along with FFFFest, I'd have to start selling plasma to afford it all. And as far as the people thing, I grew up in San Antonio and spent a lot of my time in Austin, experiencing flaky/lame people is not especially geographically specific. They're everywhere.
I would have come to your birthday party, if invited. ;)

Ah I already have Circa Survive tickets for Halloween, both shows should be stellar. You're definitely right about the subdued Dallas crowds though, I hope it gets better or I'll have to get my ass to Austin too (I plan to do it anyway after school).

I didn't say everyone, there's some cool people there. However, the lack of fan involvement is why alot of the clubs in Deep Ellum closed(along with the City Council being a bunch of pricks). This type of thing is what keeps many bands from putting on shows in Dallas. However it looks as though Trees and Palladium have good things going occasionally. I'll be seeing Danzig on Halloween at Palladium.

Most people in Dallas aren't the coolest people to try to go to shows with, they generally lame out like your friends have. That is why I moved to Austin. The ACL lineup this year to be honest was very underwhelming: it seems for the big Headliner every year they pick someone only the upper management of C3 cares about, like the Eagles or Dave Matthews. Not to say those bands are bad, but it doesn't encourage younger people to attend.
