.... and that's the magic number

THREE days til aclfest. i guess i'm ready. between all my friends flaking on me, and the no smoking garbage, i can't exactly say i'm pumped. but i'm still optimistic :)
yesterday i wrote a little blog asking if anyone here was going out there this weekend. i got a no, 8 crickets, and 2 tumbleweeds : / well.... bout time for me to be hittin the ol dusty trail...

funny if it wasn't me

damn dude... don't ever ask a woman who is not pleased with you, what kind of person she thinks you are. i made that mistake twice last week. oof. the answers weren't the same, but equally cruddy. on a slightly funnier note, i was talking to a good chick friend of mine a couple weeks ago, about dating and whatnot, saying i couldn't deal with finding someone new to get into a relationship with right now. she was telling me i just needed to go get laid that night. i was like, "ehhh, i don't know if i'm the guy that goes out and does that". and her reply: "yeah, you're not good-looking enough to have a one night stand. you'll prolly have to be in a relationship. i say just go get a hooker. also, the only chicks that like skinny dudes are under 21, so that's a problem for you." ouchies! i did laugh, though... yay, friends.

best 8-year-old music video i just saw for the first time

i was watching this dvd the other day, that was about michel gondry, and it contained all the music videos he'd ever directed. now like, i was familiar with the song star guitar by the chemical brothers, but i didn't know a video existed. and holy shit, is it bad ass. it appears really simple at first, just a camera facing out the window of a moving train. but there is some really cool shiz happening. the background objects fly by, in time with the beat and other sounds in the song. i tripped on it for a good minute, and i think it's one of the best vids everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

halloween / new year's eve

i've been keeping an eye out for a good show on halloween and new year's. my nye wish was granted a few days ago, when the black angels announced they'd be playing emo's east, with wooden shjips (is that where that j goes? i know it's in there somehwere :P ). as far as halloween, so far nada, but there are a shit ton of good shows on the 29th. wild flag at emo's, zola jesus at the mohawk, beirut at stubbs (kinda sold out), and the one i'm really interested in, halloween cover night at the red 7, with shonen knife (ramones), shannon and the clams (devo), good head (turbonegro), germ free adolescents (x-ray spex), los crimson cavaleras (danzig legacy mariachi). sounds fun. i love me some shannon and the clams, and i like devo too, sooooo.... yeah. on a perfect night, i could catch zola jesus, and still see some of this red7 show.

have a good one!

thanks slyd! i'ma do my best :)

yeah the video for "let forever be" is pretty crazy. i remember watching it, and saying, "how do you even come up with an idea like that?" i want what he took. i feel you on beirut, i reeeaaaallly have to think about it. as a wise person once told me, "no show in austin is ever sold out". it's just a matter of, do i wanna pay the scalper an extra $10 or not, right? but with so many other good shows that night, i'll prolly go for the easier (and cheaper) options.

Ha ha this entry cracked me up. Both of Gondry's Chemical Bros videos are pretty sweet. Beirut would be my option if it was not sold out. Have fun at ACL!
