blahg, just to be doing something
upcoming shows
a lot of good stuff coming up, so much that i might have to refrain from going to a couple that i don't have tickets for, yet. i guess if ur problem is too many good shows to choose from, though, then you don't really have a problem....
tomorrow night: handsome furs @ the mohawk, or the frogs at emo's.... or sitting on my couch at home. still thinking.
9/2: the dodos, antone's
9/8: japandroids, bass drum of death, mohawk
9/16-9/18: aclfest, zilker
9/16: big boi afterparty @ the mohawk, or the obits @ red 7 (maybe)
9/17: ty segall, mohawk (maybe)
hard for me to commit to those aftershows, cause you know, acl's gonna be brutal this year. guess it will depend on my beer-to-water ratio ![]()
9/21: the horrors, parish
9/23: neon indian, com truise, mohawk
9/23: neon indian afterparty, blazer tag (maybe)
10/4: braids, mohawk
10/8: toro y moi, bass drum of death, mohawk
10/11: friendly fires, theophilus london, la zona rosa
10/18: the war on drugs, emo's
10/29: zola jesus, mohawk (maybe)
11/4-11/6: fun fun fun fest, the shoooorrrrrrrre
carpooling to fun fest
speaking of funfest, anyone in nw austin feelin a carpool? if you plan on being down there all day every day, this could work. hit me up!
acl fest schedule
barring anymore cancellations, it looks like i've got my schedule together:
friday: cults>an horse>reptar>fool's gold>electric touch>kurt vile & the violators>foster the people>nas & damien marley>pretty lights>go take a shower> an aftershow or pass the hell out, not sure yet
saturday: aloe blacc & the grand scheme>twin shadow>take a nap>alexander>the moondoggies>cut crappy>tv on the radio>stevie wonder>go take a shower>ty segall @ the mohawk, or pass the hell out early again
sunday: yellow ostrich>the vaccines>the head and the heart>the walkmen>chiddy bang>broken social scene>elbow or dfa1979>fleet foxes>empire of the sun>arcade fire
it's definitely going to be a different experience, than the last 5 aclfest's i went to. the 4-5 ppl i usually hang out with there, are all not going, cause of the heat (and i imagine, a relatively weak lineup this year). i can't not go. it's just something i have to do. unlike the rest of my pals that usually go, i know i'll have a blast no matter what. i think some ppl go just cause they think it's a cool thing to do. i enjoy the music. not everyone is lucky enough to get a major festival in their hometown, and i def appreciate it. still, i admit i do love the funfest lineup like exponentially more
if you're gonna be out there, look out for my flag, and hollerrrrrrrrrr!

chill/electronic obsession of late
i've been hearing a lot of good electronic music lately, but i am soooooo all about beat connection. and i'm especially about this song. if ur into i guess what's being called "chillwave" or whatever, i think ur obligated to love this. go ahead and see if you don't. the surf noir ep is pretty tight. when ppl ask me, "what's ____ sound like?", i sometimes have a hard time thinking of what to say.... if friendly fires and caribou had a butt baby, but then washed out was the surrogate, so it came out of his butt..... yeah, sounds kinda like that... but in a good way. if you like that song, also check out "sunburn" and "in the water".
the mooooooooooooovies
saw the devil's double earlier this week. it's out in theaters now, i guess loosely based on uday(sp?) hussein. pretty crazy story.
on netflix, i finally saw winter's bone last night. i dunno why i didn't wanna watch it before, but man, what a fucked up ass story! has anyone else seen it? i know it's sposd to take place in the ozarks, but anyone know where exactly that godforsaken place was? arkansas? kentucky? mountain folk scares me, ya'llllllllll
i think those were both excellent films, but if i'm going to recommend something, it's this documentary i saw recently, collapse. nothing's more fucked up than real life. if you like documentaries, damn, you should really see this. and then you'll recommend it to others. here's a trailer.
"if you're in a camp, and a bear attacks, you don't have to be faster than the bear. you only have to be faster than the slowest camper."
some song lyrics, cause why not
it's that time again
you wanna leave me, so i keep you home
it's that time again
you wanna leave me, don't you go
let's go out again
remember when i used to take you out?
hit the town and then
then maybe i can take you home
i fucked up again
you won't believe me when i tell you so
you won't let me win
why can't you ever let it go?
be my love again
together we will have a happy home
be my love and then
we'll never have to be alooooooooooone...
... been listening to a lot of these guys, lately.
have a good rest-of-the-week, guys and girls.

You have quite the schedule coming up. Having too many great shows to see is a problem I would like to have. See you at the fest.
