This feels like a nitemare

A good friend of mine was hit by car last Saturday while participating in the scavenger hunt. He is alive, however he may never be the same. From what I am told it is likely that he will be blind. They aren't sure if he will be able to talk, and they think he can hear. He hasn't woken up since last Saturday Sept. 22nd. So they aren't really sure of anything. I finally attempted to see him today due to the fact that his family wants their privacy..(which is completely understandable.) ICU-Trauma Surgical......we finally find the right area. A nurse points to the room and we could see him and we get to the door... But just then a Dr. stopped us while we were right at the door way. She asked is who we were, then said "well he cant have any visitors...family or friends today." My friend asked her a question and I pretended to listen but I continued to stare into his room. We could see him through the door. He is hooked up to several machines. His eyes have bandages on them, but i could see his cheeks. We had to leave but I got to see him for a second. He was moving but Im not sure if he was shaking or actually moving. The Dr. said that he can't have any visitors because they don't want to stimulate him..they are trying to keep him sedated. So..his family has said he is not in a coma, he has brain activity..but he just won't snap out of it. Wake up Chris Wake up! We miss you. It isn't fair that this has happened to you. It isn't fair to your daughter, family and friends. We are all sending positive energy your way bro. Seeing you like that was hard. And I am deeply saddened that I may never get to have a conversation with you again. This is really hard to accept. And I feel like shit even getting used to the idea that your not going to be around. Much love from your friend. Get well soon.

It sounds like Chris was on a serious mission; he's not going anywhere. To echo the sentiment below, fighter's don't give up. Sending many healing vibes and love to you and yours. Hate to hear that your friend was hurt so badly during the hunt.

Yes, he was on his bike. The driver was turning and Im not sure if Chris was going to fast or he just didnt see him in time. But, they tried to avoid each other and ended up going the same way. My friend arrived at the scene just after it happened and said the driver felt terrible. Thanks guys. I'm trying to stay positive, but I can't help but be depressed. A group of bike riders made a ride out to the hospital on Monday. They had a prayer circle for him. This all feels like a dream...that I'm dying to wake up from.

That's terrible news, L! I definitely agree with Jesse, though: your friend sounds like a fighter and someone who won't give up. I'll be sure to keep him in my thoughts and hope for a swift recovery. He's lucky to have friends like you: sometimes that can make all the difference in the world.

Thank you...we all keep thinking that exact same thing. And that is the best thing Ive heard all week, That is very inspirational...you fought for your life..I believe he is too, He has been in other accidents, because he rides his bike like crazy. That was his thing. Always riding faster and longer distances. Always pushing himself. And he is always okay..So, I know he will come up on top! i have faith in him. Again..thank you for your words.
