Explosions in the Sky make beautiful music: there's no two ways about that. At this stage in the game, virtually everyone should be familiar with EITS's particular brand of soaring, epic post-rock instrumental music. Like Sigur Ro, EITS are practically synonymous with setting a certain type of mood: somber, yet hopeful...sad yet celebratory. They appeal to an almost primal, universal human emotion. I've seen Explosions a few times in the past, so there's not as much of a need to see them this year. If my friend were going with me, however, things would be much different: EITS are his favorite band and there's no way he would pass them up.
