New Music from Death (from Detroit)!!
Well, well...what a nice surprise! RollingStone.com is hosting a stream of the first new Death song since 1976 and it's a real barnstormer! Death at F3F will always be one of my fondest memories and the new tune shows these guys to be in a real "kick-ass-and-take-names" mood.
Now, normally I don't much dig on repeat performances at fests since there's so much other music that can be booked. In this instance, however, howzabout getting Death to play at F3F7? I'd plant my ass right at the front barricade, just like last time, and rock til my head fell off.

Right on, Phillip!!! :)
I recall when I was combing through all the acts in the lineup that year (prior to the fest, so I could figure out who I wanted to catch) and came across Death, and saw the OLD pic of these young dudes with afros, and "punk" listed next to it, and I was "Huh?" Then I listened to the MP3 that was linked on the FFF site and read the backstory to the band, and I ran out that night to buy the CD from Cheapo. :)
I was *amazed* at how GOOD their set at FFF was, they sounded GREAT!!!! I was expecting them not to be able to sing it the same or to play it a bit slower, but NO FUCKING WAY they were having any of that. It was AWESOME!!! There was a guy in the front I met who had flown in from Philadelphia just to see them play that set. :)
OK, enough gushing for now... But, honestly, of the 5 FFF's I've been to, they were one of the top highlights for me...

I'm with you, Pierce! The Death guys were so incredibly nice (and incredibly rocking!) and their merch guy was pretty damn awesome...I must've talked to that guy for at least 30 minutes that day. Definitely one of my highlights of that year.

FWIW, I just found the new song on Spotify (search for "death relief"; they are mixed in with the other Death metal band, but it's there!).

I don't know what I was thinking: a Nites show would be 100X better. Good point, Inkboy!

I just listened to the song, it was pretty good! I missed Death at FFF '09, so i would approve of a repeat performance! Or even better may be a FFF Nites show.
