Bookkeeper services are often not regarded as necessary. A common mistake that a great many business owners make is to handle all of the financial information of the business. Based on some famous examples, sometimes it is much better to hire the right individual or service to handle financial information. In the 1970's, there was a company known as W.T. Grant that was over-generous in giving out credit. Not only did they give credit out to people that were not credit worthy, their stores were encouraged to aggressively pursue new clients, all because the owner though it was a great way to increase business, against the advice of his bookkeeping staff. To make matters worse, even when presented with the numbers, William T. Grant kept up the practice. Now, W.T. Grant is listed in business footnotes of what not to do regarding management. Companies aren't the only entities that make mistakes on their books. For example, in a recent audit, it was discovered that the Oakland city government overpaid and double paid invoices over a five year period to the tune of $105,000. Shoddy records led to this rather expensive series of mistakes. Financial errors by an in house staff are fairly common among small businesses. New business owners rush out and buy some software and think they can reduce costs by doing all their stuff in house. It is not a good idea to do your record keeping yourself, unless you are a qualified accountant. Even with a background in finance, it is difficult if not impossible for business owners to be detached about their business records. Hiring a bookkeeper service, is a better idea to avoid costly mistakes. Sometimes, there can also be legal ramifications of bad bookkeeping. Criminal charges were filed against the upper management of Enron for cooking the books so to say. Bookkeepers essentially keep records. A document is created each time there is a transaction, under normal business methods. Purchases and sales have receipts and invoices. Whenever a deposit is made into a bank account, a deposit slip is created. Checks are written to pay money out of the bank account. The daybooks, are the bookkeeper's area of expertise. The daybooks can be broken down even further into the sales book, the cash book, the bank book, and the purchase book. Bookkeepers are responsible for ensuring all transactions are recorded in the proper suppliers ledger or daybook. Accountants are responsible for preparing financial reports from the records generated by a bookkeeper. Bookkeepers are the first line personnel in the process. Using these records, a trial balance is generated by the bookkeeper. After all the books are tallied up, and an adjusted trial balance is created, then the balance is checked and compared. If everything matches up, then the trial balance is created for the accountant. So, as you see, bookkeeping and accounting can't function without each other. While the accountant produces the final result, without the help of bookkeeper services in Mesa, AZ.Phoenix bookkeeping, accounting bookkeeping services, bookkeeping services in Mesa, AZ
