The Miracle.
As I returned home from Rio Reforestation, I had already come to terms with the fact that I sucked and would not make it to Fun Fun Fun. Wasted my money and my time on this event that I would not attend because of my stupidity. Just as quick as I returned, my mom approached me with a proposition: "If you can get Josh to agree to it, we can get two tickets to the Sunday show. I know how badly you wanted to go. I will help you out." The Descendants were going to be the subject of my mourning on Sunday. So I left my mind as open as humanly possible. I called Josh and, after an hour or so, we figured something out. The tickets were bought on November 6 for November 7.
Sunday morning, I woke up at 5 am, picked Josh up from his house with my mom, and began the journey to Austin!!! How any of this was possible is much beyond me. But it happened. Made it to Waterloo Park at around 12:30. Josh and I spent hours out around the place, checking out the merch tables and a few decent bands. I know we missed some of the best from Satuday.. that, I won't forget. :( But Sunday was very fun. Even ran into a teacher from my school. That was a little awkward, but totally cool. Anyhow, I got a little messed up from hanging around the edges of a few pits (bruised ankle, slighty mutilated tongue, and slightly bruised back). The best part was hanging until the very end to see Aukerman out there and singing along to some of the greatest music I am familiar with.
The trip back home was exhausting. Picked up a box of pizza and ate that. Got home at around 3:30 am, Monday morning. Monday morning, I drove myself to school about an hour after it began. I have to admit, I felt regretted nothing, even as I sat in the detention hall for tardiness. Wearing my wristband, Descendents tee, and post-festival stench (no time for a shower. gross, I know), the smile imprinted on my face was enough to make sure everyone knew what I had done that weekend: The seemingly impossible. That was the first (and I swear, not the last) dose of Fun Fun Fun I'll experience and remember. I love me some Austin, Texas.
Hell. Yeah.
