DEVO Cancel Their Appearance...

Just days before Devo was set to launch into their final trek of 2010, the legendary outfit has been forced postpone all upcoming tour dates due to a serious hand injury suffered by guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh. According to an issued press release, a glass shard sliced Mothersbaugh’s right thumb to the bone, severing a tendon. He underwent immediate emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery after proper care and therapy.

The band plans to reschedule most of the postponed dates for next Spring, though this will not be the case for the band’s scheduled performances at MoogFest in Asheville, NC and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX. That said, Devo founding members Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale will still attend MoogFest to accept the Moog Innovation Award.

    What is the policy going to be regarding people who want refunds because of this?

    I bought the ticket because of Devo. No Devo = No reason for me to go... You can't replace Devo. Refund options had better be available.

    I don't think they'll give refunds on this, as it's a typical festival policy to just shrug it off when a headliner cancels(example: ACL with Coldplay a couple years ago, when people asked for refunds they were told(I was one of them) "you shouldn't be buying a ticket for one band"). I would hope the Transmission guys prove me wrong on this. I'm going regardless, but DEVO was my number one draw to this year's fest.

    Yeah the whole no Devo thing is a big disappointment especially since i bought the weekend pass just for them. Sunday was the main day I scheduled my work and everything around to see them and now its a bust. I really hope they can find some one of equal caliber or just all out greatness of Devo.

    no joke, one major part of the fun just went right out the window even before the festival even started. who can even take their place?

    AHHH! Goddammit!! It was the main attraction for me as well. I am profoundly upset. I am hoping for WEEN as a replacement.

    According to their email their might be a chance for a refund.

    Also, I think I heard something about Burzum covering for Devo.....

    stupid. i'm flying from asheville, nc and am way bummed on the cancellations.
